What it lets you do

Isolate a part

Hear the bass alone, work the left hand, rehearse a brass passage.

Mute the melody

To sing over it, or to have a pupil play the line.

Replace an instrument

Assign your own sounds track by track in your sequencer.

Print a single stave

Engrave one musician's part rather than the whole score.

How it differs from MIDI GM-0
GM-0 puts every instrument on a single track, spread across 16 channels. It plays perfectly well, but each part is far harder to isolate. Multitrack is made to be worked on.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from standard MIDI?

MIDI GM-0 puts every instrument on one track. Here each instrument has its own, named: you mute it, isolate it or replace it without touching the rest.

Will it work with my gear?

Yes. It is a type 1 Standard MIDI File, read by every sequencer, arranger and module. Keyboards play it like any MIDI file.

Can I change the key or the tempo?

Yes, with no loss at all: this is not a recording. You can even do it track by track.

Can the same instrument appear twice?

Yes, and often — two pianos, two guitars. Each track stays separate, with its own channel.

Your song does not exist yet?

We transcribe it by ear, track by track, and deliver it as multitrack.
